How did GM pay off its bailout loans?

Wow!!  GM paid off all that debt already?  Their stock must have sky rocketed today.  It’s just totally amazing when a company was in such bad shape that they needed $8.1 billion about 6 months ago but now repays all that debt. Obviously it was right for Mr. Obama to push the bailout, right?

Of course there would never be any shenanigans going on with this repayment, would there?  Everything has to be on the up and up or the media would be in an uproar.  So I should probably just go along with this cool kumbaya feeling and squash that feeling of dread that is lying just in the back of my skull.

Oh yeah, make sure you don’t look too hard.  Don’t want the happy-happy, joy-joy to fade

Frogpants to the left of me

Coverville 664: Frogpants to the left of me, Cover Requests to the right

Hehe, he said Frogpants.  I haven’t had a chance to listen to this episode yet but anything that references frogpants has to be worthwhile, right?

Baseball Player : To protect and serve!

Marlins prospect goes shopping for toilet paper, ends up stopping a purse snatching – HardballTalk – Baseball – NBC Sports.

Neat story about a minor leaguer helping out a woman who was being mugged.  If the mugger had any weapons on him it could have ended badly but fortunately everything was ok.

Baked Chicken

Recipe: Baked Chicken

Summary: Kind of like fried chicken but baked. This is the way I always make it now.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (3 lb) fryer chickens, cut into 8 pieces each

Instructions

  1. In a large roasting pan (or two 9×13 pans), in a 425° oven, melt the butter or margarine.
  2. Mix flour, salt, paprika and pepper in a heavy-duty plastic bag; shake chicken pieces in the bag, a few at a time, until evenly coated.
  3. In the pan (s), place the chicken, skin side down, in the melted butter; bake 30 minutes.
  4. Turn chicken pieces and bake 15 minutes more until pieces are fork-tender.
  5. I usually make gravy from the de-greased pan juices, using some or all of the leftover flour and some chicken stock.

Cooking time (duration): 60

Number of servings (yield): 6

Meal type: dinner
