I’ve always been in support of kids going to college after high school instead of straight to the NBA. However, after seeing this maybe it’s not that big of a deal. If this is what a college education gives you, maybe high school is enough. :D

ESPN.com – NBA – Big Ben to endorse Marburys affordable sneakers

ESPN.com – NBA – Big Ben to endorse Marburys affordable sneakers

This is really cool. I grew up in a very poor area and in a very poor family. Getting the equipment I needed/wanted for basketball, football and track was hard sometimes. I remember wearing some really bad shoes while playing basketball (anyone remember the Spalding pump?) Having an affordable alternative that actually performs well would be great for underprivileged kids.

My only concern is that they won’t be available nationwide. I had never heard of Steve and Barry’s University Sportswear until after this article. Although it looks like the shoes would be available online, how many of the kids that are targeted by this line will not have internet access or credit cards to order them?

Overall a great idea. Let’s just hope it is executed well.

Johnny’s last appearance

I just saw this clip and it made me nostalgic. I used to love watching the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Leno just isn’t in the same league.

Twins Geek

Twins Geek

The Geek is back!! Nice to see you again John.

He has an interesting post up right now talking about service time and how it relates to arbitration and free agency. It’s stuff that I knew about but didn’t fully understand.

What’s the biggest thing that I see? Morneau has a very good chance of playing in the new park in 2010.

Let’s see. That’s 3 years from now. My oldest will be about 5 and my youngest about 3. Hmmm, wonder if it will be time to go back to Minnesota and introduce the kids to the home team?

Some Vikings Rumors

Hey everyone. Occasionally I come across some rumors that I like to share. The source for these has been mostly accurate in the past but they are still rumors so take them as you will.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
#1 – He thinks the guy that the Vikings want in round one is Greg Olsen – TE from Miami. He blocks – catches anything that is thrown to him – and is extremely fast. He is more than a one dimensional player, which is what the Vikings are coveting. He would definetely be an offensive weapon.
#2 – The Jake Plummer trade to Tampa Bay screwed things up. He believes that had the Texans gotten Plummer – David Carr would be a Viking today. The deal is believed to be a 3rd rounder to Houston. He thinks this deal is going to get done for the Vikings but probably won’t happen until week of the NFL draft or even on draft day.
#3 – Kevin Curtis was the #1 free agent priority. The Vikings offered him a ton of money and were shocked that he didn’t take it. The Lions didn’t come close to offering the money that the Vikings did and the agent wanted Curtis to sign with the Vikings. This led to the riff between Curtis and the agent.
