Vikings 20, Green Bay 17

Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre looks toward the end zone after giving up an interception that was run back for a touchdown by the Vikings in the second quarter.
Picture and description from the Star Tribune

The picture and description just make me smile. Gotta love when Favre throws up some crap and it gets picked off.

So, I saw this stat today

They have four of their next five games against losing teams, and four
of their final six games at home.

If Minnesota can win the remaining 4 home games (which is definitely a possibility) they would be at 9-7. That should be good enough for a wild card spot. Not the best way to enter the playoffs, but with the momentum that Minny has had lately they could do some damage.

At the very least, beating the Packers twice this season (three times in a row going back to last season) is a really nice Christmas present.

Tomorrow is Turkey Day. Time for a display of American gluttony. I am the cook of the family so it is my responsibility to create the magic. Our menu includes a maple brined Turkey, bourbon glazed sweet potatoes, roasted garlic mashed potatoes with gravy (duh), stuffing, cranberry sauce and all the normal fixings. For dessert I’m making pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream and apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

Overall I’m very excited. I love cooking and Thanksgiving gives me a chance to pull out all the stops. Should be a fun day.

Bret Boone still trying

I think he needs to change more than his hair color to make himself a viable option at 2nd for any team.

That platinum blonde in the lobby of the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort was none other than free-agent second baseman Bret Boone, whose new hair color is emblematic of his desire to open another chapter in his career.”

The article goes on to say how he has been in an extensive conditioning program and hopes to extend his career a little longer. I’m just not sure if there’s any life left in this pony.

This same article talks about how the Yankees may try to lure Rafael Furcal in to play center field. I really hope Tery Ryan is on the phone trying to get Hunter to New York.

Not sure who the Twins should get in return, but $10 million dollars for Hunter is just too much. Lew Ford can replace him for a lot less money. Also, the money saved could be used to get a decent hitter in here.

Speaking of a hitter, I wonder if there’s any way of enticing Larry Walker into coming to Minny to tutor a future Canadian slugger. Morneau would benefit greatly learning from someone such as him. BTW, did you know that Walker actually spent 39 starts at first base back in 1991?

Well, that’s it for today. There’s not a lot of news yet. However, the offseason deals are right around the corner. Let’s hope the Twins pull off some surprises.
