Proud Papa to be!

I may be gone for the next couple days. It appears my son soon will be entering the world. Only 20 years until he’s starting for the Twins or Vikings. What a retirement fund!!!

Anyway, check the links on the right side. Last night’s game was a good one and people all over Twins Territory are writing about it.

Gotta go.

Weekend news

Looking ahead: Gardenhire said the Twins are looking to probably bring up at least six players from the minors when rosters can be expanded to as many as 40 next month.

The breakdown: at least three pitchers, a catcher, an infielder and an outfielder. The only player Gardenhire mentioned by name is Class AAA Rochester middle infielder Luis Rivas. Barring injury, the pitchers almost certainly will be right-hander Scott Baker, left-hander Francisco Liriano and reliever Travis Bowyer, and the catcher will be Rob Bowen.

Luis Rivas? What the hell? You mean the same Luis Rivas who is hitting .250 and is 26 for 104 in AAA? What exactly was in the contract with Satan that Luis signed?

The only good thing in that little blurb is that Liriano, Baker and Bowyer will probably be coming up soon. I can’t wait to see Liriano against big league batters.

Vikings lose to Jets

This game was absolutely sloppy. A lack of concentration led to nine penalties in the first half. That’s just terrible. Hopefully the next preseason game will be better. If not, the season may not start out very well.

Wild Card Standings

Look who’s back in the thick of the Wild-Card race. I know they are still 3.5 games out, but if the Twins can continue the way they have lately they actually have a chance.

I again have to ask though, is it a good thing to make the playoffs? Is there a chance for the Twins to go any farther than the first round? If not, would it be better to play for next year? Maybe bring up Baker, Liriano and Bowyer and let them get some seasoning?

Anyway, let’s enjoy a nice 5 game winning streak. Remember that 4 of those 5 came against pretty decent teams (although both are struggling right now). Live for the moment. Seize the day.

Randy Moss

Ok, I’m a decent fan of Moss. He played pretty well for the guys in Purple and Gold. However, he’s just clueless. Read the article and tell me how he can go on national tv and say something like this?

I will miss his production, but I’m glad he’s Al Davis’ headache now.

Things that make you giggle.

Twins finished up their 9 game road trip with a sweep of the White Sox last night. That alone makes a person giddy. However, I was just reading the Pioneer Press online and I saw this

. . .before winning two of three against then AL West-leading Oakland and sweeping the team that had the best record in the majors from April 29 until Wednesday’s loss
.

Not only did the Twins sweep the Sox, but they also knocked them out of the lead for best record. (How nice was it for Matthew LeCroy to get two homers in the beginning of the game against Buehrle?) I know, these facts are all inconsequential. However, after reading Aaron Gleeman for the last couple days I figured some happy news would be nice.

Romero Trade?

In other news that makes me giggle, it looks like JC Romero is open for a trade. He wants the same chance Casey Blake and David Ortiz had. All I can say to Mr. Ryan is DO IT!!! Yes Romero can be dominant at times. The hard part is figuring out when those times are. Let him become a headache for another team. Trade him for the afore mentioned jar of Icy Hot and bring up Baker or Bowyer. And hey, if you can get rid of Mulholland at the same time, I’d appreciate it.

AL Wild Card

Ok. The Twins now sit 4 games out for the wild card spot (12 games behind Chicago in the AL Central). Is there any chance that the Twins make the playoffs? If they do, is that a good thing?

I guess we’ll see in about 42 games.
