Couldn’t do it
Posted by Johnny under Sports thoughts
Last night Johan Santana and the Twins “B” team took the field against the Anaheim Angels. Even though the lineup wasn’t composed of the usual suspects, I still felt the Twins had a really good chance of leaving Anaheim with 2 out of 3 taken. Johan Santana was pitching, no problem. Man, was I off.
Santana was very Terry Mulholland last night. 6.1 IPs, 9 hits, 6 ER, 3 BB and only 3 K’s. What kind of crap is that? When Santana takes the mound you expect a lot more than that. You expect Superman, not Mike Maroth.
Santana still has a decent 3.98 ERA. Also, last year at this time he was just a decent pitcher. It was after the break that he became All-Universe. Hopefully he shows the same thing this year. It would be really helpful for the Twins playoff hopes if he could return to his Cy Young form.
In other news. What’s up with this pseudo-”from the good of my heart” Live8 crap? I read an interesting article about it yesterday. I’m fine if a bunch of famous people want to get together, sing cum-by-yah and try to make everyone feel good. Isn’t that what music’s for? But to say the concert was to “Make Poverty History” but no money made through the concert will go to charity is insane.
Am I missing something? If a concert is supposed to be for charity shouldn’t the proceeds go to charity? Someone please explain this to me.
Anyway, enough of this. Let’s hope the Twins can sweep the Royals before they go on break.
