Gorgeous Day for Golfing
Posted by Johnny under Sports thoughts
I went golfing today. It was a fantastic 82 degrees give or take. Not much better than hanging out with some friends under the nice blue skies of Montana chasing little white balls around and laughing at your friends errant shots (obviously I would never mis-hit so the laughs were all directed at them and none at me).
I missed the game today but from what it looks like, the Twins had another great outing by Kyle Lohse. He pitched 8 innings, had 6 strike outs and allowed only one run. Does anyone else have the feeling that Kyle is putting on a show for a potential trade? The deadline is coming up, and a young up-and-coming pitcher may be just what a team with a power hitting third baseman is looking for. I wonder what Terry Ryan has planned.
On the Dickie Thon Twins Forum I recently read a post stating Joe Nathan wasn’t as good of a closer as he was last year. I just want to point out that after this post was made Joe has saved three in a row and his ERA has gone from a ho-hum 4.15 to a decent 3.78. My feeling all along is that the Twins really needed to get in a rhythm and have him in to close more often than once every 6 games. I believe that closers really need to get in a groove. When they only pitch every 6 or 7 days, it’s really hard to find that groove.
Well, that’s it for today. Enjoy the rest of this Independence Day weekend.
Later.
