Stick and Ball Guy
Posted by Johnny under Sports thoughts
I like Stick and Ball Guy, I really do. However, today’s post about the Twins made me a little sad.
I am the first to admit that I am an eternal optimist. The sky is always blue and the grass is always green. There are just times the blue sky is behind the gray clouds and the green grass is under 2 feet of white snow.
I honestly feel the Twins will at least make the Wild Card. I think Terry Ryan will make a “Stewart-esque” deal that will bring in some help. Don’t ask me who that is because I really don’t have a clue. However, I trust the brain-trust with our beloved team. If a clueless guy like me can see the problem, I’m sure they can too.
I feel bad for Cuddyer. He’s been jerked around by the team for the last couple years. When he finally has a position (one that probably wasn’t right for him) he experiences some growing pains. Not unexpected in my mind considering how little he’s played there. Well, after finally starting to come around (offensively mostly) he is jerked once again. Yes Glenn Williams is playing decently, but he’s an 11 year minor leaguer and his big league experience is next to none. I feel that the sample size used to determine that he’s better suited to 3rd than Cuddy is too small.
Right now it appears Cuddyer will be a utility type person. Although I really like the guy, maybe it’s time he went somewhere else. A change of scenery may be just the thing he needs to get on track. Hey Terry Ryan, Cuddyer has to be worth something.
To wrap things up, I will relate some personal info. As the two readers of this blog know, my wife is pregnant. The due date is August 20th. Right now we’re in the process of determining how much time my wife wants to take off of work, how much she wants to work after maternity leave and who the day care will be.
One of the big problems with working in Montana is that even if you have a good job (in my case I’m a Mechanical Engineer) you do not get paid nearly what you should. I have 5 years of experience and I’m making under $40k per year. Pretty pathetic.
Anyway, as with most new parents, money tends to be the biggest topic right now. I always thought that when I grew up I’d have the Ozzie and Harriet or Leave it to Beaver life of the 50’s. I would work, my wife would be home taking care of the kids and everything would be hunky-dory. Man reality sucks.
How do you readers handle it?
That’s all for today. Later.
